Job Summary:
Perform patient assessments and works with other medical professionals to provide custom assistive technology products to patients.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess the patients's skills, needs and mode of mobility for different environments; measures and fits customers for consumer level equipment based upon assessment information.
Educates customers on assistive technology product options, insurance guidelines and the process of obtaining devices.
Researches and compiles product options based on customer needs. Works in conjunction with other health care professionals to obtain the necessary documentation that supports the medical necessity for the equipment.
Demonstrates equipment as needed and as available.
Prepares necessary documentation and conducts follow-up to obtain necessary documentation.
Delivers and picks up equipment to and from patients’ homes. Provides and reviews written documentation to patients/caregivers and obtains signatures on delivery paperwork.
Performs final fittings and equipment modifications prior to and upon delivery. Trains patients, caregivers, family members and others in the proper use and maintenance of the equipment.
Provides follow-up support to customers.
Assists in performing repair services to rehab equipment provided by the department.
Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
- One year experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
Rare climbing.
