SCCAA Finance Director Job Summary: The Finance Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership of the Finance Department through the application of strategic fiscal knowledge and analytical skills for management of the organization’s fiscal processes and data systems to support the delivery of high-quality programming. The Finance Director shall provide onsite oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, providing technical support to all departments on fiscal matters.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting, with at least ten years of demonstrated experience in Community Action Agency or non-profit, public or governmental accounting department, with Master’s in Finance or MBA preferred. Ability to provide competent leadership through planning, foresight and follow-up. Excellent managerial skills and ability to evaluate staff performance; Excellent project management and time management skills; Exceptional analytical abilities; Excellent verbal and written communication; Experience with multi-funded grant operations; proficient with accounting software and standard office and accounting equipment. Demonstrated working knowledge and experience with federal and state regulations.
Competencies/Knowledge/Skills and Abilities: Integrity and trustworthy, critical thinker, functional knowledge of accounting; Direct experience in multi-funded accounting and budgeting principles with federal, state and local funding source regulations; Budgetary control, Management and supervisory experience.
Duties:
- Direct and manage the daily operation of SCCAA Finance Department, including payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Work with Chief Executive Officer to ensure organizational financial effectiveness through strategic planning, risk management, self-assessment and systems integration.
- Supervise finance department staff, planning, scheduling and assigning work; training and evaluating employee performance.
- Serve as a major part of the organization’s leadership team.
- Ensure sound fiscal structures, inclusive of policies, procedures, and transactions.
- Oversee and assure all established fiscal controls are adhered to by staff, inclusive of assuming full responsibility for the safety and integrity of all financial records, checks documents and records.
- Keep the Chief Executive Officer apprised of the organizational financial situations and cash flow at all times.
- Recommend methods and procedures for cost reductions and fiscal operation improvements.
- Maintain functional knowledge of various Grantor rules, regulations and fiscal requirements to assure organizational compliance.
- Develop Annual Agency Budget along with Chief Executive Officer and program budgets in concert with Program Directors.
- Review and analyze all contractual obligations.
- Recommend remedial actions in those instances of any over-expenditure and/or under expenditure or budgetary resources.
- Develop and/or revise organizational Fiscal Operations Policy Manual.
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of cashflow reports.
- Act as staff liaison to the Governing Board Finance Committee, maintain agendas and minutes.
- Oversees the conduct of the annual organizational audit, preparing any necessary responses to questioned costs.
- Ensure that financial requirements are met for all grants, maintain the corporate grant files.
- Ensures that all financial reporting is accurately prepared and timely submitted to various Grantor funding sources.
- Maintain and nurture relationships with corporate financial institutions.
- Lead monthly budget meetings with departmental Directors to ensure each member has a comprehensive understanding of program expenditures, including discussion of monthly transactions.
- Prepare monthly financial reports in timely manager for distribution to the CEO, Board and Program Directors.
- Maintain departmental performance through effective coaching, counseling, and discipline, planning, monitoring and appraising staff job performance.
- Serve as the in-house manager of organizational IT system working with third party contractors for compliance and integrity of systems.
- Analyze organizational insurance requirements and needs for cost effectiveness and assurance of coverage.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Details: Full-Time / Monday-Friday / 1st Shift 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Valid Driver's License required.
Wage: $80,000/year
