Job Purpose
Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching for Adjunct faculty to teach courses in Machine Technology. There may be additional sections to be taught at any location including daytime, online, virtually and/or at area high schools. This is a POOL position. Application materials for this adjunct position accepted on an on-going basis due to increasing demand for courses in this subject area.
Position Description
- Provide formal instruction in all courses assigned.
- Work with the advisory committee and actively participate in Business and Industry.
- Provide related instruction with shop, laboratory, or other occupational experience that is appropriate to the career objectives of the student.
- Plan lessons and activities that will enable students to master skills and complete course objectives.
- Maintain an environment which is conducive to learning with particular attention to safety practices, good housekeeping, and student behavior.
- Develop career-related instructional materials relative to technological changes in business and industry.
- Utilize student-centered teaching strategies.
- Grade student assignments, submit midterm and final grades, keep accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, submit all required assessment items, and perform other functions relevant to the profession of teaching.
- Other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Machine Work Technology Standards and Regulations.
- Knowledge of print reading and operating machine repair and maintenance standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both students and faculty.
- Understanding of teaching and learning principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse student populations.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to improve the educational experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to solve practical industry problems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Position Qualifications and/or Education
Minimum Qualifications and/or Education
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of industry-related experience in Machine Technology or related field.
- Two (2) years of training or teaching experience in Machine Technology or related field.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to drive college vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications and/or Education
- Associate degree in education or related field.
- Five (5) years of industry-related experience in Machine Technology or related field.
- Five (5) years teaching experience in an open enrollment, urban community college.
- Experience with a Learning Management System, such as Blackboard.
- Experience in learner-centered pedagogy.

Work Schedule
Primarily working evening hours. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs, may require weekend hours. Your appointment is contingent on sufficient enrollments, or on program and scheduling changes.
