The Supervisor of Development Science is responsible for leading the operations and staff of the Pilot lab within R&D. The supervisor will report to a Manager of Development Science. The supervisor will oversee daily activities, set priorities for the pilot lab team to ensure task completion, coordinate work activities through collaboration with technical experts, R&D project leads, manufacturing, and quality. The pilot lab supervisor will be responsible for ensuring all company policies and procedures, FDA, ISO, GLP and related requirements are consistently met. The position is part of the Immunoassay Reagent Development Department located in Chaska (Minneapolis), MN and it is an on-site position. The Pilot Lab is a manufacturing approved laboratory that is responsible for the manufacturing of IUO and RUO Immunoassay products, transfer of IUO products to IVD products, and supports design changes for continuous improvement of current products. This includes but is not limited to upstream process builds, quality control testing, and final release of product.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead a team of scientists to achieve KPI targets for safety, productivity, quality, and delivery.

  • Mentor direct reports in their growth and development plans; set impactful development objectives; provide stretch assignments to develop talent.

  • Collaborate within department and cross functionally to ensure new product designs are transferred from Development to Manufacturing to achieve business priorities.

  • Accountable to ensure project achievements are met, remove roadblocks to enable teams to meet project milestones.

  • Sustain lab productivity and compliance to meet department and corporate objectives.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • High School Degree withe 8+ years' experience or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Medical related Sciences) with 5+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.

  • Previous leadership experience related to laboratory supervision, people management, or project management.

  • Candidates must have considerable experience of good laboratory practices and scientific methods in a private, public, government or military environment.

    It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience with IVD, IUO, and/or RUO manufacturing of immunoassay products.

  • Demonstrated coaching, interpersonal communication and team leadership skills.

  • Skills including budget and operational KPI management.
