Job Purpose and Impact

The Health & Nutrition Strategy & Business Development Director will partner with senior business leaders across Cargill Global Food Solutions to develop high impact business development opportunities. In this role you will lead the development of winning strategies in the Health & Nutrition (H&N) Business Development process including but not limited to gameboards, growth strategies, initiatives and programs. You will be accountable for annual review of group strategy, advise existing businesses Managing Directors, evaluate market entry opportunities, assess new business partnership and define long term group and regional development roadmaps. Additionally, this role externally driven, focused on cultivation and relationship building with potential acquisitions in the H&N space.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and oversee business development transactions through the application of leadership expertise for Health and Nutrition and develop objectives and plans to achieve growth and financial profitability with active identification and recommendation of potential business opportunities.

  • Maintain surveillance over the external market in the food industry, cultivate and lead transaction execution and collaboration with third parties and structures, supervise and ensure the quality of financial analyses of potential business combination opportunities.

  • Actively build a Cargill network and influence across that network. Ability to engage right Cargill leaders in the process and ensure their support. Strong buy-in from CFB ELT, H&N MDs, R&D, Corp Dev. Deeply understand corporate approval processes.

  • Co-accountable with other Global leadership team members for the long-term innovation agenda (disruptive innovation & emerging technology), and midterm innovation.

  • Evaluate domestic and international MADJV alliances, minority investments and alternative business combinations and understand, interpret and provide recommendations on the impact of decisions on objectives and performance.

  • Act as a primary spokesperson on H&N business development matters with senior internal leaders including the board of directors and external parties including executive and financial officers and senior governmental representatives.

  • Develop strategic reports and leads presentations for H&N enterprise, group and business leaders in reference to various business development metrics, performance and other information pertinent to the profitability and growth of the organization.

  • Provide expert knowledge and experience of Corp Dev practices in leadership and mentorship of cross functional cultivation, transaction and integration teams.

  • Provide strategic leadership, development and talent management activities for direct reports and their organizations, which may include forecasting resource needs, recruiting, hiring, performance management, training and budgeting. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of eight years of related work experience, five years of supervisory experience

  • Confirmed ability to manage a global budget

  • Confirmed business acumen and track record designing and leading corporate development projects resulting in business impact

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including business fluency in English

  • Willingness to travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or master of business administration

  • Exposure to and an up to date pulse on/familiarity with the food ingredient and agriculture industry or related industries with particular depth in science related to specialized nutrition, meat and dairy alternatives, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience as an active business builder, externally focused, and having ability to open doors.

  • Demonstrated experience contributing to long-term direction/strategy building in Health & Nutrition.

  • Established external contacts in specialized nutrition, meat and dairy alternatives, start-ups, etc. preferably thru previous experience. Relationships in both Europe and North America in particular.

  • Credibility and gravitas to make and cultivate high-level contacts.

  • Strong conceptual thinker with ability to articulate Cargills Food & Bio’s (CFB) strategy and translating in ideas and activity.
