How is this Role Important to our Work?
The Strategic Programs Director plays a pivotal role in defining, leading, and driving strategic programs aligned with organizational objectives. They provide direction, oversight, and coordination to ensure the successful completion of complex, cross-functional projects. This crucial role is responsible for translating high-level strategic objectives into executable programs, ensuring the alignment of projects with organizational goals and driving successful outcomes through effective leadership, management, and collaboration.
A Day in the Life:

Engage with senior leaders across the enterprise in a highly matrixed environment to share insights of overall strategic portfolio health, sharing insights on projects being worked on and implemented such as impacts, collisions, and critical interdependencies and risks. Provide recommendations for risk mitigation framework.

Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies, proactively addressing challenges to ensure successful delivery.

Implement best practices and drive process improvements, fostering innovation and efficiency in program management methodologies.

Provide recommendations for how to structure work differently to align to delivering work in a product/agile way.

Model financial and human capacity constraints, develop optimization options, and manage the sequencing and release for optimal execution of projects throughout the enterprise.

Conduct pre and post project and portfolio assessments, providing valuable recommendations to executives.

Vendor relationship management; diving in to understand issues, impacts, and create resolution plans.

Partner with business teams to drive accountability to portfolio performance, understand adjustments to projects (timing, resourcing, capacity planning, etc.), and help teams measure progress and key outcomes gained. This role will work across the organization to drive timing and alignment of strategic results.

Understand strategic initiatives and alignment to portfolio projects. Define KPIs for success that are in direct alignment to organizational strategy. Measure and ensure success based on defined key metrics.

Roadmap Development: Develop and accountable for a clear and actionable roadmap that outlines the strategic initiatives, milestones, and results.

Drive strategic decision-making and ensuring optimal execution of the organization's investment agenda.
Required Skills & Experiences:

7+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.

Program/project management, preferably in strategic roles working with companies using product and agile

Analytical with a data-driven approach to decision-making

Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and advise organizational leadership on business case development and benefit realization

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide multidisciplinary teams

Strong business acumen and technical depth to engage in problem solving with business and technical teams

Strategic thinker and planner with the capability to navigate complex problems and drive solutions

Highly accountable, self motivated, and comfortable with ambiguity

Ability to create and deliver methodology and framework from ideology to delivery incorporating people, process, and technology needs

Proficient in program management tools and methodologies

Strong program management skills and a track record of working through ambiguity in a complex, multi-stakeholder corporate environment that requires deep relationship management

Experience working in a project and product led/agile delivery environment; a thought leader in how to approach delivery differently in a product led way

Strong Financial acumen
