GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB.
General Oversight of programming and administration of the Dewald Community Center of The Salvation Army.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
Program Development:
Plans, organizes and implements diverse educational, recreational, social, cultural and spiritual programs for various age and special interest groups
Plan Summer Zone program including academic enrichment and field trips
Prepares budget recommendations and monitors expenditures
Evaluates program content and effectiveness
Experience with computers, grant writing and public speaking
Develop and offer quarterly parent workshops and/or family gatherings that meet identified needs of the community
Program Management:
Coordinates scheduling of facilities and services for assigned programs
Plans and schedules evaluation of all programs
Evaluates facilities and equipment; initiates requisition of supplies and equipment; supervises, trains and evaluates personnel
Ensure that DCC programming is adhering to all requirements pertaining to grants
Monitor and ensure that all programs operate within the DCC budget
Staffing:
Supervises the orientation, recruitment and hiring of full time, part-time and volunteer staff
Enforces standards, procedures and regulations
Serves as advisor to various committees governing activities at the center
Conduct regular staff meetings
Provide support to all staff as needed
Community Relations:
Coordinate with Commanding Officer(s) in areas of public relations, media, press releases and grant proposals
Serves as contact person and resource for community agencies and other organizations concerned with the center
Prepares and reviews promotional materials, correspondence, manuals and reports
Attends meetings, conferences and seminars which will enhance community participation and program effectiveness, including divisional Learning Zone director meetings
Offer input as it relates to meeting the needs of the community and schools in the area
Routinely adheres to and maintains a positive attitude towards the operations and goals of the community center and The Salvation Army at large
Additional Duties
Drive for program as needed
Assist in cooking for programs as needed
Supervise children attending programs
Create a positive rapport with families and caregivers, building relationships within the DCC to encourage families to participate in corps/church programs and services
Other duties as assigned by Commanding Officer(s)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervision of DCC staff.
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.
College degree in social services, education or physical/recreational education or related field
One-year experience in program development at a management level
Experience working with a largely volunteer staff
A valid State of Ohio driver’s license
Background check is required through the Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation (BCII)
Knowledge of:
Methods and techniques for diverse program development and needs assessment
Techniques of supervision and training
Procedures and practices to ensure safety
Budgeting principles and practices
Public relations skills
Ability to:
