Order#: NY1496060 Production Associate- Forge Shear Operator 3rd shift JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for loading steel into Shear and cutting to proper length. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Loads bundles onto shear. Pulls tag off bundle and records information onto the shear report. Gets new heat code for that bundle. Tags boxes with proper information part #, heat code, date, and initials. Pulls a 19' bar through shear to backstop cuts bar. Takes that bar and checks measurement with ruler or tape ruler to make sure for proper length of shear report. Makes sure the shear is making a clean cut if not get supervisor to change blades. Makes adjustment to backstop if needed for correct length. Pushes bar through again to backstop make another cut check length again. If length is good continue cutting bar until last cut take that and measure that for right bar end cut on shear report. When done cutting for shift hand in shear report and tags of bundles. Clean up around shear. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Unloading steel trucks Other job duties my be assigned by supervisor Ability to find the heat code for the bundles they put up on to shear table. Training on how to use the magnetic crane safely and responsible. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to read and write English. Must be able to read and understand work instructions. Must be able to read a tape measure or ruler Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to work well with others PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to twist, bend and lift repetitively Ability to stand continuously for 8-12 hours Good physical conditions to lift up to 25lbs repetitively Good eye/hand coordination and good motor skills WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to loud noise Exposure to hot and humid conditions Double hearing protection and eye protection is required at all times in all production areas Steel toe boots with metatarsals are required at all times.
