SUMMARY
Working under the direction of the Traffic Operations Supervisor, the incumbent will assist the technicians with the audit of the street light assets, painting, tagging poles, digging, and cleaning for the department. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day operations. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the ability to interact with the public, City incumbents, and outside agencies with patience, tact, respect, and professionalism and the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs and records inventory and audits of Street Lighting assets;
- Installs pole tags on street light facilities;
- Paints luminaries;
- Paints light poles;
- Tightens light fixtures;
- Digs trenches;
- Rakes and seeds restoration;
- Cleans up warehouse yard.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
- Communicates well both verbally and in writing;
- Knowledge of grammar, punctuation and higher mathematics;
- Working knowledge of hand tools and proper usage ability;
- Ability to read and understand maps.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The incumbents work consists of simple, repetitive routine tasks with the ability to understand the work methods and use of equipment and machinery. The incumbent must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. The incumbent must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Incumbent has contact with supervisor and with co-workers, other staff members and the general public to give and receive factual information about the work.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
The incumbent must have the ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. The incumbent must also have the ability to perform operations using units of weight, measurement, volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
The routine, repetitive, simple tasks are performed under close supervision. Incumbents work instructions are specific and complete. The incumbent has no authority to deviate from instructions. Incumbents jobs duties and tasks are of a moderate amount of involvement in the overall operation of the department.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Indiana Driver's License if city vehicle is used.
