Title: Staff Accountant / HR Assistant
Status: Exempt

*Position Summary *

Assist the CFO and the Director, HR in daily operations and transactions.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities *

*Accounting *

1. Process payroll bi-weekly
2. Process accounts receivable functions including deposits and revenue recognition.
3. Maintain and balance the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
4. Complete bank reconciliation processes, identifying any discrepancies or out-of-balance transactions.
5. Assist with the preparation of financial and statistical statements and reports. Compile and prepare routine reports and summaries. Assist in preparing for the annual audit.
6. Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Follows GAAP guidelines.

*Human Resources *


1. Maintains employee data in the payroll system for both new and existing employees.
2. Track attendance for all staff, reviewing reports each pay period to identify potential issues.
3. Assist in the recruitment process, including screening phone calls to potential candidates and scheduling in-person interviews.
4. Assist in annual open enrollment process.
5. Assist in planning and coordinating special events and recognition programs for employees.
6. Onboarding and new employee orientation

Work under general supervision: routine duties are performed with minimal supervision; standard practices or procedures are followed to proceed alone at routine work; occasional check of work while in progress; work is reviewed upon completion. Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex projects.

*QUALIFICATIONS: *

1. High school graduate required; two-year degree in accounting or general business preferred. An equivalent combination of experience, education, or other training may be considered as an alternative.

2. Two years of experience with a focus on accounting or bookkeeping functions required.

3. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. Great Plains experience is a plus.

*SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: *

1. GAAP
2. Experience with payroll, financial statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
