Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and learn something new? Welcome to the Texas Gulf Coast Electrical Apprenticeship Program, one of the leading schools of its kind. Our goal is to give our students the skills, experience, and confidence they need in order to become successful professionals. Electrical workers install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems in homes, businesses, and factories. Electrical workers work indoors and outdoors in nearly every type of facility. Almost all electricians work full-time, which may include evenings and weekends. The work can be dangerous and potential injuries include electrical shocks and burns, cuts and falls. Electrical workers learn their trade through a registered apprenticeship program that is usually cost-free to the student.

Pay and Benefits
-Starting Pay is $16.22/HR (we provide you a full-time job during the daytime)
-Pay Raises of 3% every 6 months throughout the program.
-Retirement is provided at no cost to you.
-Health insurance paid for by the contractors for you and your whole family, at no cost to you!
Terms of the Apprenticeship
5 years of paid on-the-job-training (8000 hours)
5 years of classroom training (1000 hours)
The first 6 months is a probationary period
Credit may be granted for previous experience in the Electrical Construction field.
Requirements to Apply:
-Birth Certificate
-Driver's License or State ID
-Official Sealed High School Transcript (to verify one credit of Algebra 1)
-GED (must still verify one credit of Algebra off High School or College transcript)
-Social Security Card

***When you have completed the online math course, please bring that certificate with you to apply, this will bypass the Algebra 1 requirement if you do not have it.
Cost and Length of Schooling:
$700 for 1st year, includes all school costs except for a small wireless laptop, steel-toed boots, and a TDLR apprentice License. If you are considered low income we have a program that will assist in paying for your first few years of schooling. We also have a tuition reimbursement program, which will reimburse your tuition every year if all the requirements are met. You can officially go through the program and get 100% of your tuition reimbursed.
-5 years of schooling, 199 hours of schooling a year. The school year runs from September to May, you go to school 2 nights a week for 3 hours both nights, 6 hours a week of schooling, classes are typically Tuesday and Thursdays from 6:00-10:00pm. You get summers off from school but will work with a contractor year-round.
Certification Achieved:
- Department of Labor Certificate that states they have completed a DOL-approved Program of Study
-Journeyman's license recognized as an Electrician anywhere in the United States and Canada as soon as you pass the Journeyman's Test. Journeyman Electrician test is taken during their 5th year.
