What We're Looking For

We are seeking a talented and passionate 3D Technical Artist specializing in Houdini to join our VDC Real-time team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality effects, tools, and procedural content optimized for performance, primarily within the Unity gaming engine. You will collaborate closely with our creative and technical teams to develop innovative solutions and ensure the seamless integration of visual elements into our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create procedural tools and scripts to streamline production processes, with a heavy focus on procedural modeling and geometry processing & optimization.

  • Optimize and troubleshoot Houdini workflows and assets to ensure efficiency and performance.

  • Work with game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine to integrate HDAs into real-time environments.

  • Create and optimize custom shaders and materials to achieve specific visual effects and enhance the overall look of the projects.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the production pipeline, ensuring smooth data flow and compatibility between different software and tools.

  • Provide technical support to other team members as needed.

What You'll Do:

  • Leads and manages the VDC process for construction projects using software such as Revit, Navisworks, SketchUp, etc.

  • Creates and maintains BIM models using software such as Revit, Navisworks, SketchUp, etc.

  • Performs clash detection and coordination using software such as Navisworks, BIM 360, etc.

  • Produces 3D visualizations and animations using software such as Lumion, Enscape, etc.

  • Implements and oversees VDC technology initiatives such as laser scanning, drones, virtual reality, etc.

  • Provides support for software and hardware systems that are used by the VDC team.

  • Works with the VDC team to ensure quality and accuracy of BIM models and deliverables.

  • Communicates with project stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.

  • Trains and mentors junior VDC specialists.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Associate’s degree or certificate in computer-aided design (CAD), BIM, VDC, or a related field and 3 years of relevant experience, or

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and 1 year of relevant experience, or

  • In lieu of education, 5 years of relevant experience.

What we Prefer:

  • Bachelor's in Art, Computer Science, Game Design

  • Experience in mobile or VR/AR game development

  • Expertise in rigging, animation systems, and real-time rendering

  • Proficiency in Houdini (VEX, Python) and other 3D tools (Blender, 3ds Mas)

  • Strong knowledge of game engines (Unity, Unreal) and asset optimization

  • Experience in shader development (HLSL) and scripting (C#)

  • Familiarity with version control (GIT) and collaborative workflows

  • Strong problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills

The approximate pay range for New York is $72,602.78 - $136,130.21. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.

The approximate pay range for the California San Francisco Bay Area is $90,753.47 - $136,130.21. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.

The approximate pay range for Illinois is $79,863.05 - $119,794.58. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
