Job Description:
Otter Tail County is accepting applications for a part-time Recycling Worker to work at the Fergus Falls Recycling & Redemption Center.

The purpose of this position is to sort and process recyclable materials from Otter Tail County and surrounding counties to assure a quality end product that consistently exceeds recycling market standards, and to positively impact the environment.

• Sorts recyclable materials (paper, plastic, metal, glass) based on guidelines developed by the Recycling Manager.
• Coordinates efforts with Recycling Operator and Lead Recycling Worker to get recyclable material on the sort line.
• Collaborates with Recycling Operators and Lead Recycling Worker to assure safe, smooth, and efficient operation.
• Monitors recycling equipment operation and reports malfunctions to Lead Recycling Worker or Recycling Manager.
• Follows all safety policies and practices while at work.
• Cleans buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Operates balers, forklifts, skid-steers, and conveyers as needed.
• Fills-in for Recycling Redemption Workers as requested.
• Assists other areas of the department when requested. These other areas include recycling, redemption, transfer stations, and landfills.

The part-time position will work 20 hours/week, Wednesday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The 2024 starting hourly salary for this position is $18.18 per hour, depending on qualifications, with advancement to $27.26 per hour.

The selection process will include an online employment application and supplemental questionnaire. Semi-finalists will be invited to interview. Prior to hire, finalists will be required to pass a background investigation. A standard 12 month probationary period applies.

Please note: This position is considered a safety-sensitive position due to the essential job duties in accordance with Minn. Stat. §181.950, Subd. 13. Safety-sensitive employees are subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing. In addition, all employees are subject to drug and alcohol testing upon reasonable suspicion/cause, return-to-duty, follow-up, and post-accident.
