Position Overview:
Affinity Plus is excited to kick-off our 2024 Summer Internship Program. This program will provide Interns with the opportunity to work within their area of career focus while interacting with teams to expand organizational knowledge. The Affinity Plus Investment Center internship program gives a student an opportunity to explore the career path of a Financial Advisor. While each credit union and their financial services team is different, our goal is to give you real world experience and help with your professional development. You will learn about the financial advising industry and how Financial Advisors provide investment services in a credit union/banking environment. The financial advising industry will only become more in demand as a record number of Americans and Financial Advisors retire creating a large demand for new advisors.
This internship will spend 10 weeks learning all facets of our Credit Union Investment Program while supporting our core/ brokerage systems. The intern will spending time interviewing members of the Investment Center and members of the branch staff to understand how each department works with members. This internship will provide an opportunity to learn about products we use as solutions to members needs including: mutual funds, stocks, bonds, life insurance, disability insurance, long term care, annuities and the different education Plans. Some additional experiences gained include: determine allocation of investment and use financial calculators to determine insurance needs, time value calculations and other financial projections as well as participation in case studies to apply concepts you have learned to actual member scenarios.

What we are seeking in an intern:
Pursuing a degree in Financial Advising or related field (preferred)
Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize with attention to detail
Critical thinking skills and the ability to look at current procedures and processes and make recommendations
Ability to work remote primarily and be in-person at times for meetings, events, training and connections
Aptitude to work independently as well as part of a team and ability to collaborate with others
Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize workload based on department and project needs
Flexibility to adapt and succeed in a dynamic environment
Ability and drive to provide exceptional service to members and employees
Working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint

Workplace Environment:
Sitting 90-95% and standing 5-10%
Working at a computer 98% of the day
Bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, or crouching when appropriate, on occasion
Repetitive movements, including but not limited to typing, using a mouse, phones, etc.
Lift, carry, push or pull up to approximately up to 20 pounds with or without accommodations
Required Work Schedule:
Primarily Monday through Friday business hours with a willingness to explore a flexible work schedule as needed.
This internship will be from June 3rd, 2024 - August 9th, 2024 and offers the option to work mostly remote with occasional on-site days required for meetings, collaboration, and other events in either Roseville, MN or St. Paul, MN. The intern should be located in Minnesota or Wisconsin for the duration of the internship.
