Our dynamic and successful Traffic Operations and Modeling Group is seeking a full-time Transportation Modeler and Forecaster II. We provide flexible work options for this role, allowing you to work from our offices in Minneapolis, MN; Madison, WI; Chicago, IL; or Tallahassee, FL in a hybrid mode. A full remote option is available for select candidates. As a Transportation Modeler and Forecaster II, you will have opportunities to work with travel demand modeling and forecasting, hybrid modeling, transportation planning, traffic planning, traffic operations, and data analytics. You will be part of a core modeling team which provides technical support to a variety of transportation related projects at the system, corridor, and project level. Work includes freeway and arterial corridors, transit corridors, pedestrian and bicycle modes or other transportation analysis. This position also provides opportunities to interface with clients and manage project tasks. Visa sponsorship is available for this position.
Responsibilities:
Supporting project managers as needed on ongoing projects
Applying knowledge of concepts and principles of travel demand modeling, transportation planning, and traffic operations
Preparing model inputs and scripts
Conducting technical research and field studies
Collecting, analyzing, tabulating, and presenting data
Interpreting the results of models, technical analyses and communicating them effectively
GIS mapping and spatial analyses
Writing reports and memos
Required Qualifications:
Two (2) to five (5) years of transportation planning, travel demand modeling, and or traffic operations experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in civil engineering and/or relevant degree
Strong analytical skills
Strong technical and plain language writing ability
Strong interpersonal and public communication skills
Experience with one or more travel demand modeling software programs: Bentley (Citilabs) CUBE VOYAGER, Caliper TransCAD and TransModeler, PTV VISUM, Bentley (INRO) EMME 4 and Dynameq, TSS Aimsun, STOPS
Experience with one or more traffic operations software programs: PTV VISSIM, PTV VISTRO, Synchro/SimTraffic, Rodel, and HCS
Data analysis software: GIS, Advanced Excel
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in planning or civil engineering with a strong emphasis in transportation systems analysis
Programming language experience: R, Python, VBA
