ESSENTIAL TASKS/RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Prepare and assist patients for medical examinations and procedures.
  • Take vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and weight.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests (e.g., blood draws, urinalysis).
  • Administer injections and vaccinations as directed by the physician.
  • Record patient history as well as any current concerns, and document all pertinent health information.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of formal medical assisting training that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools
  • Basic understanding of pharmacology and medication administration techniques.
  • Previous experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience working with the population of the facility preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant
  • CPR, first aid, and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
