SUMMARY

The City of Chicopee's Department of Public Works | Flood Control Division is hiring a MEO Flood Control Man [Maintenance Worker] to assist in the operations, maintenance, cleaning, and repair of all Flood Control and WPC facilities, including but not limited to flood control pump stations, levees, and flood walls. Performs all related duties to properly operate and maintain the flood protection system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE

-    Operates pumps, motors, and electrical equipment, power tools, mowers tractors, motor vehicles.
-    Clean, lubricate, maintain, compressors, vehicles, works with preventative maintenance program and related tasks.
-    Cleans buildings, washes windows, and empties trash cans.
-    Works as needed in all DPW divisions as needed; WPC-pump station and collection system work, and coordination between the departments will be required on a daily basis.
-    Purchases supplies and materials according to City purchasing procedures.
-    Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines, and mower.
-    Drives truck and loads fallen tree limbs and roadside trash onto truck and delivers to disposal location.
-    Other duties as assigned per the full job description.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be minimally qualified for this position, one must meet the following criteria:
-    High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-    MA Class B CDL Driver?s License

SCHEDULE, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a Full Time, 40-hour/week position, with a schedule of 7:00 AM | 3:30 PM, Monday | Friday.
This role is classified in the UFCW Laborer?s Union, as Grade 05L, starting at Step 05 with a minimum starting pay of $17.78 per hour + Licenses with periodic step and pay increases upon continuous completion of employment with the City of Chicopee (dependent on the starting step).
