Job Description
The program manager plays a critical and collaborative role in fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment on campus. In collaboration with leadership, the program manager coordinates operations and programming for the Barner McDuffie House, including but not limited to staff supervision, program and event coordination, student support and mentorship, building maintenance and repair requests.

The program manager cultivates an inclusive and welcoming environment by designing culturally relevant programs and events, including academic workshops, social gatherings, career panels, health and wellness initiatives, and community service projects. In collaboration with the Director of BIPOC Student Success, the program manager develops program budgets, timelines, and evaluation metrics to measure program effectiveness. The program manager collaborates with campus partners to implement initiatives promoting belonging and inclusion for students served by the Barner McDuffie House.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have no less than three years work experience in a similar position engaging with students from marginalized groups.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Experience with budget management, data analysis, and program evaluation.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute successful events and programs.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft365 (Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Teams); Zoom.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and deal with multiple demands.
  • Appreciation and sensitivity to the needs of students from marginalized groups.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and exercise independent judgment is required. Experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Barner McDuffie house, including facility management, budget oversight, and staff scheduling in consultation with BIPOC Student Success leadership.
  • Manage/supervise Barner McDuffie to always ensure its readiness to students and visitors.
  • Co-develop, document, and manage operational policies and procedures.
  • Submit monthly budget reports to leadership.
  • Create opportunities for student voice and participation in decision-making processes related to center programming and operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of House activities, program data, and student engagement metrics.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise all Barner McDuffie staff Collaborate with the Manager of the Intercultural Collective to oversee all hiring processes, onboarding, scheduling and work distribution for Barner McDuffie staff.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote programs and events to students. Conceptualize, oversee, and evaluate events/programs.
  • Work with leadership to identify potential challenges and propose solutions.
  • Attend applicable campus events and programs/join campus committees as mutually agreed upon by leadership.
