Job DescriptionResponsibilities:
The Hernandez Lab (seeks a talented and motivated research scientist to join our team. Our research is focused on improving our understanding of the pathogenesis and treatment of tuberculosis, nontuberculous mycobacterial infections, and pulmonary infections in cystic fibrosis. The lab uses a combination of animal models (zebrafish and mice), cellular infection models, microbiology, mathematical modeling, and molecular genetics. Active projects may include: (1) developing a model to predict multidrug efficacy for therapy of nontuberculous mycobacteria based on experimental measurements, (2) dissecting the pathogenesis of mycobacterial infection in zebrafish and in mice, and (3) developing alternate treatments for mycobacterial infections such as bacteriophage. Responsibilities will also include assistance in operating a repository of cystic fibrosis bacterial isolates.
Responsible for independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standardized scientific procedures and techniques to carry out research/development activities in a particular scientific discipline. Has broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of field of specialization. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Makes detailed observations, analyzes and interprets data and writes manuscripts/grant proposals. Collaborates with principal investigator, taking direct responsibility for carrying out research and development activities. Considerable effort (25% or more) may be dedicated to seeking independent outside research funding."
Full time, 1.0 FTE position. Some experiments will require occasional work on weekends.
Requirements:
Required Education/Experience:
PhD Degree level in applicable science field/related field OR.
Master's Degree in applicable science field/ related field plus minimum three (3) years of related experience OR.
Bachelor's Degree or higher in applicable science field / related field plus minimum five (5) years of related experience with a robust publication record.
Related work experience varies by lab / position, as it relates to the research projects and research field assigned to this position.

Preferred:
PhD in relevant specialty area or closely related field.
Substantial prior experience in relevant area of research.
Min to Max Hourly Salary:
$36.75 - $55.12 /hr
Min to Max Annual Salary:
$76,440.00 - $114,649.60 /yr
Salary Information:
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
