Duties:
Works as a physician and is accountable for providing direct patient care to outpatient and inpatient Veterans in accordance with approved clinical privileges in internal medicine and hematology-oncology. This responsibility includes collaboration with ARNPs or PAs in the care of such patients.
Provide state of the art outpatient care to hematology/oncology patients which includes new consultations, initiation and management of chemotherapy, maintaining proficiency with appropriate procedures required for care of such patients, and follow-up care of such patients.
-Manage chronic medical problems and preventive medicine such as management of problems specific to hematology /oncology patients.
-Provide consultative care to inpatients with hematology/oncology related issues, including initiating and managing Chemotherapy.
-Participate in the training of medical students, residents, and fellows on the hematology service.
-Promote an atmosphere of efficiency and accuracy in the timeliness of completed documents.
-Support research activities in the Section
-Collaborate and supervise ARNPs and PAs working in the Section.
-Actively participate in Section activities to ensure that the Veterans are receiving the best care possible.
-Will attend Oncology/Hematology related committees, work groups, etc.
