JOB REQUIREMENTS: Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges
or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. Weld components
in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Detect faulty operation of
equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors. Determine
required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of
metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques. Melt and apply solder
along adjoining edges of workpieces to solder joints, using soldering
irons, gas torches, or electric-ultrasonic equipment. Melt and apply
solder to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal
products, using soldering equipment. Recognize, set up, and operate hand
and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc
and gas metal arc welding equipment. Select and install torches, torch
tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications
or types and thicknesses of metals. Mark or tag material with proper job
number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required. Prepare
all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or
thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
\*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or
equivalent is a mandatory requirement for this position. Must have at
least 3 years of proven experience in welding and fabricating,
specifically focusing on TIG and MIG weld types. In-depth understanding
of welding techniques and practices is crucial, including successful
completion of mandatory BSI weld testing. While a technical or
professional certification (AWS) is preferred, it is not mandatory.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical documents,
and drawings is essential. Knowledge of safety standards and willingness
to use protective gear like safety glasses, face shield, boots, and
gloves is a must. Exceptional attention to detail and a solid mechanical
aptitude are necessary skills. Physical requirements include the ability
to walk, bend, stoop, lift objects up to 50 lbs, and work in various
positions. The candidate should be able to stand and work for extended
periods (8-10 hours) and be capable of lifting, twisting, kneeling,
crouching, crawling, reaching, sitting, and occasionally climbing.
Strong communication skills are needed, including the ability to
solicit, process, and integrate feedback effectively. Demonstrated
ability to identify and address conflicts, engage in open and honest
dialogue, and provide constructive feedback is required. Sound knowledge
of production equipment, including electrical and manual tools, and
