JOB REQUIREMENTS: Histology Technician - Surgical Pathology - 31501
DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Work Schedule : This is a full-time, FTE
1.0, 1st shift position. Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm with
rotating weekends and holidays. Hours may vary based on department
needs. Pay : \* External hires may be eligible for up to a \$4000.00

a patient\'s diagnosis at UW Health. You\'ll help bridge the gap between
a tissue sample being taken and a diagnosis being made by a pathologist.
We are seeking a Histo Technician (HT or HTL) - Surgical Pathology to:
\* Prepare tissue samples for examination under the microscope by
grossing/dissecting biopsy specimens, embedding tissue in paraffin wax,
performing microtomy and completing various staining techniques of
tissue on glass slides. \* Basic instrument maintenance (temperatures,
monitoring reagents), supply inventory and quality control to review and
evaluate test or instrument performance. \* Interact daily with
pathologists, residents, and both intradepartmental and

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education : Minimum - Associate degree in
laboratory science or medical laboratory technology OR Education and
training equivalent to an associate degree to include: \* Education: 60
semester hours including either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory
technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses Preferred -
Bachelor\'s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science,
or chemical, physical, or biological science Work Experience : Minimum -
Preferred - Previous laboratory experience Licenses and Certifications :
Minimum - Preferred - Histotechnician/Histotechnologist (American
