Tewksbury Hospital, part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking a dynamic Education and Training Coordinator to play an essential role in shaping a knowledgeable and well-prepared workforce by assessing training needs, developing engaging educational programs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and Joint Commission standards. This position collaborates closely with subject matter experts, department leadership, and the Quality Management Department to design and implement impactful non-clinical education and training initiatives. By applying adult learning theories and innovative training methods, the Coordinator fosters a culture of continuous learning, supporting employees at all levels in their professional development.
As a leader in training coordination, this role supervises Non-Clinical Educators, oversees onboarding programs, and ensures seamless tracking of training compliance. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining educational records, developing role-specific competencies, and leveraging digital learning platforms like MassAchieve to enhance accessibility and efficiency. Additionally, this position actively engages in department meetings, policy development, and communication strategies to promote training opportunities across the organization. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
· Assess training needs by reviewing existing programs, regulatory requirements, and leadership feedback to ensure effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.
· Develop and oversee the tracking of orientation and ongoing education programs for all staff, including organic, contracted, agency, and vendor personnel.
· Supervise Non-Clinical Educators by assigning tasks, providing guidance, and evaluating performance to maintain high-quality training standards.
· Design and deliver non-clinical orientation, ongoing education, and training programs utilizing adult learning theories and best practices.
· Monitor the onboarding process in collaboration with departmental leaders to ensure timely completion of probationary requirements and competency assessments.
· Maintain compliance with Joint Commission regulatory standards by developing tracer methodologies and coordinating training documentation.
· Serve as the facility coordinator for MassAchieve by managing training uploads, tracking completion, and ensuring accessibility of educational materials.
· Provide regular reports on facility-wide training compliance to executive leadership and department heads.
· Coordinate speakers, training materials, and event logistics for orientation sessions, continuing education, and professional development initiatives.
· Promote educational opportunities through multiple communication channels while maintaining accurate records, policies, and procedures related to staff training and development.
Required Qualifications:
· Strong knowledge of learning and motivation principles, as well as various training methods and techniques, including workshops, simulations, role-playing, and demonstrations.
· Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures governing unit activities, with the ability to effectively explain and apply them.
· Proficient in the creation and use of charts, graphs, and tables to support training and reporting needs.
· Demonstrated ability to provide clear, concise instructions and follow verbal and written directions.
· Solid understanding of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques to manage and support team members effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Working experience within a hospital or healthcare setting.
