The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis. Some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.
Under the direction of a higher-level Information Technology Architect, the Information Technology Architect 1 (ITA1) will be responsible for providing senior technical leadership within the project lifecycle, making decisions regarding the selection and utilization of software tools and platforms. The position will develop and implement integration standards and strategies within the scope of software development.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Evaluate, identify, and develop software solutions.
• Lead software development projects.
• Document and record every aspect of an application or software.
• Plan, track and schedule software deliverables.
• Locate and direct solutions for critical challenges involving software and hardware interfaces.
• Identify problems within software systems and resolve such issues.
• Develop good working relationships with other employees.
• Develop and implement system and data integration standards and strategies.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
• Six (6) years of information technology experience, four (4) years of which must be in a specialty*.
*Specialty includes experience as an IT architect in one or more of the following: artificial intelligence, cloud, data, enterprise, business, and solution.
Education/Experience Substitutions:
• Bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field substitutes for three (3) years of general information technology experience; any bachelor’s substitutes for two (2) years of general information technology experience.
• Associate degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute for one (1) year of general information technology experience. Candidates in a bachelor’s degree program with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute such credits for one (1) year of general information technology experience.
• Master’s degree or higher in computer science or related field substitutes for one (1) year of general information technology experience.
Preferred qualifications:
• Strong technical background with expertise in multiple technology domains as applicable to an information technology architecture specialty*.
• Experience with software development methodologies and practices as applicable to an information technology architecture specialty*.
• Preference for candidates holding relevant certification as applicable to an information technology architecture specialty*.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly understand and address technical challenges.
• Knowledge of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements relevant to technical solution design.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and leading technical discussions and decision-making processes.

• Appointment to this position and continued employment with the agency is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring.
