POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President of Nursing (VPN) reports to the Community Hospital President and is fully engaged in delivering Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship.
In collaboration with the Community Hospital President and the Hospital Division Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the VPN is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing all hospital activities to fulfill the mission of delivering exceptional, cost-effective patient care while enhancing community health. The VPN serves as a key member of the hospital’s triad leadership team, alongside the Community Hospital President and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES
1. Develops and maintains a competent nursing leadership team with clear roles and accountabilities.
2. Inspires an environment where nursing associates feel motivated, respected, and valued.
3. Provides regular feedback and opportunities for professional development for nursing associates.
4. Oversees and enhances patient safety and performance improvement programs.
5. Monitors nursing quality indicators, analyzes variances, and lead corrective actions to maintain top decile performance.
6. Collaborates on annual hospital and nursing department goals aligned with system priorities.
7. Contributes to the hospital’s financial forecast and capital budget for efficient resource utilization.
8. Implements labor and expense management strategies to optimize performance.
9. Leads initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and address customer concerns.
10. Monitors patient feedback and implements strategies to improve the perception of care.
11. Ensures compliance with all regulatory, certification, and licensure requirements.
12. Actively participates in regulatory reviews and implements corrective measures as needed.
