High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.) is preferred.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Knowledge of Leech Lake Reservation geography.
Some knowledge of hydraulic equipment.

Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Willingness to work beyond regular workdays, if necessary.
Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe positions.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
Good foot, hand and eye coordination.
Ability to climb into and out of the truck numerous times without incident.

Job Description:
Division: Reservation Services - DPW/Solid Waste
Reports to: Solid Waste Operations Manager
Worksite: LLBO Solid Waste Transfer Station, Cass Lake
Work Hours: M-F, 8:00am — 4:30pm, overtime required
LLBO Status: Non-Exempt
Safety Sensitive: Yes
License/Certification Requirements: Must have valid MN class B driver's license, current insurance or be insurable

Summary: Safely and courteously operate Compactor truck while assisting in the development of the LLBO Solid Waste collection and disposal operations.

Supervisory Duties:
Oversee the curbside operation and laborer duties.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Operate compactor truck and assist helper when necessary.
Maintain accurate record of truck maintenance performed.
Basic repair to fruck when necessary.
Responsible for keeping truck sanitized, neat and orderly.
Maintain daily mileage logs.
Daily safety checks on all trucks and equipment.
Daily time record; man hours worked, nature of work and equipment used.
Keeping the work and shop site clean of scattered rubbish and debris and any material illegally dumped at gate after hours.
Ensure community members are disposing materials in properly designated receptacles.
Assist community members in unloading/loading large waste items (appliances etc) into designated roll-off boxes.
Collect, separate and bail recyclables.
Interaction with community members regarding proper disposal of waste by category and recycling efforts.
Conduct scheduled truck and equipment maintenance.
Good attendance and punctuality a must.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to travel in and out of state on a possibly regular basis.
Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture.
Attend and or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Responsible for keeping work area neat and orderly. Adhere to policies governing staff conduct.
