Job Description
The Plourde and Pechenezhskiy Groups in the Physics Department at Syracuse University are soliciting applications for a joint post-doctoral researcher position for supporting research activities on characterizing and mitigating phononic and photonic poisoning in solid-state qubits.
Experience in one of the following areas is desired: measurement automation, microwave electronics, microfabrication, and low-temperature physics. The successful candidate will explore quasiparticle poisoning in superconducting circuits, develop mitigation techniques, and test them. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility for renewal. The position involves both conducting research and supervising graduate students in both groups. Qualified candidates should submit their curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a short description of their qualifications, and the e-mail addresses of three references to the online position posting. Qualifications
  • The candidate should have a Ph.D. in physics, engineering, or a related field.

Job Specific Qualifications
  • Advanced Python coding proficiency.
  • Prior record conducting experimental research in low-temperature or atomic, molecular, and optical physics.


Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on superconducting circuits: conceive, design, and conduct low-temperature experiments; perform data analysis and simulations; revise and reiterate the measurements; report and publish the results; supervise graduate students; support collaborative research activities.
