The Pharmacy Assistant functions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and performs all of the essential generic job functions as listed below.

 

The goal of our Pharmacy Assistant position is to work in the pharmacy while obtaining PTCB certification. 

The Pharmacy Assistant must be available every other weekend and will have a rotating schedule during the week. The teammember will work 2 days one week and 3 days the next week. The shift is flexible (day or evening). Additionally, the Pharamacy Assistant will enroll at a local college to earn PTCB Certification. Tuition reimbursement available for Pharmacy Assistant earning PTCB. 

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Pharmacy Assistant at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

1. Assists the pharmacist in replenishing floor stock.
2. Assists the pharmacist in delivering medications to patient care areas.
3. Assists the pharmacist with the receipt and stocking of medication deliveries.
4. Delivers medication carts to patient care areas.
5. Assists the pharmacist in the maintenance of adequate drug supplies in filling stations and notifies appropriate departmental personnel regarding needed supplies.
6. Assures that filling stations are maintained in a neat and orderly manner.
7. Lifts a minimum of 10 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 40 lbs. and stands a minimum of 4  hours a day.
8. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
 
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Previous hospital experience.
 
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. Pharmacy Technician License.
