Position Description:

Provides tutoring services (virtual or in-person) to middle and high school students who attend six schools in the Cedar Rapids Community School District in the subject areas of Math, Science, English/Language Arts, Foreign Language and other areas based on student's needs. Work schedule 10-20 hours per week.

Required Qualifications:

Ability to tutor students effectively at the middle school and high school level, virtually or in person, in at least one of these subject areas: math, science, English/Language Arts, Social Studies, or foreign language; ability to provide tutoring services after school and evenings Monday - Thursday (depending on tutees' needs, weekend hours may be a consideration); excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; leadership skills, critical thinking/problem solving skills and be self-motivated; ability to fully participate in all program activities; and availability to provide tutoring services after school and evenings, virtually or in person; and ability to relate to young learners required.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience working with youth of first-generation and low-income backgrounds and skill levels; college sophomore with a minimum GPA of 2.50 in an acceptable subject area; and graduate student, working professional, or retired educator preferred.
