JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Reynolds laboratory at the AIDS
Vaccine Research Laboratory is seeking a motivated individual to join an
exciting project aimed at defining the size of AIDS virus reservoirs
required to achieve HIV remission. The position offers opportunities to
learn state-of-the-art immunologic and virologic techniques to advance
our understanding of AIDS virus latency. This position involves working
alongside other lab members to isolate lymphocytes from nonhuman primate
blood; culture cells with simian immunodeficiency virus; perform virus
quantification assays; assist in data analysis and preparing this data
for presentations and manuscripts; contribute to routine lab
maintenance; communicate with collaborators; and supervise undergraduate
assistants. Responsibilities: Develops, designs, and conducts one or
more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and
specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives
under moderate supervision. 50% Conducts research experiments according
to established research protocols with moderate impact to the
project(s). Collects data and monitors test results 5% Operates, cleans,
and maintains organization of research equipment and research area.
Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders 20% Reviews,
analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations
and/or reporting to internal and external audiences 10% Participates in
the development, interpretation, and implementation of research
methodology and materials 5% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day
activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers 10% Performs
