Facilities Management and Campus Planning is committed to create college wide efficiencies in service delivery and optimal effectiveness in resource utilization, benefiting the CCNY college community with the design, operation and maintenance of campus buildings, grounds and infrastructure.
Campus Planning arm is charged with the planning, design, architectural specifications and cost estimating of the campus spaces, while Facilities Management arm endeavors to maintain a clean and safe environment conducive to learning, teaching and working.
The Administrative Superintendent of Building and Grounds will report to the Chief Administrative Superintendent of Building & Grounds. The employee will also
- Manage the building automation systems, Automated Logic and Siemens systems. Monitor and advise Engineering staff when necessary. Ensure contracts are in place so as to not create an interruption in service
- Implement measures to enhance our energy efficiency efforts
- Secure funding in advance of major Boiler and Chiller Plant projects. Research vendors and prepare RFQs
- Ensure that all of the campuses cooling towers are maintained properly. Arrange cleaning either with our staff or with our vendor. Inspect all Maintenance Program and Plan (MPP) books to ensure they are up to date and ready for inspection by the NYCDHMH at a moment’s notice
- Ensure our Emergency Diesel Generator service contract is place. Review yearly and prepare RFQ as necessary
- Ensure contracts are in place for diesel fuel delivery to the main Boiler Plant as well as to all the Emergency Diesel fuel tanks across campus
- Collaborate daily with our Space Planning Project Managers to ensure proper measures are taken to support all capital projects as well as in-house projects. Inform the campus community in advance of any building or HVAC shutdowns or road closures in support of these projects. Inform the Project Managers of any project that
might not be able to take place at the time requested
- Respond immediately to any and all HVAC complaints. Assign the appropriate trade for corrective measures
- Assist the Chief Administrative Superintendent in gathering information related to insurance claims resulting from the negligence of onsite contractors and utility companies
- Assist the College’s Environmental Health and Occupation Safety Department in ensuring all trades are up to date with the training necessary for them to perform their assigned tasks
- Assist trades in the procurement of material and tooling necessary to maintain the campus. Maintain detailed documentation including Requisition and Work Order numbers as well as item cost
