Order#: NY1497602 Finance Director GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Executive Director and in accordance with the policies of the Board of Directors of Baden Street Settlement of Rochester, Inc., the Finance Director is responsible for: the coordination of all financial activities of the agency, the planning and development of the agencys basic systems of accounting and financial control, and providing direction to the Executive Director for cash management. KNOW HOW: The Finance Director must have demonstrated significant experience and career interest in administration to include: excellent skills in coordination, facilitation, supervision, and decision making. The ability to effectively communicate both internally within the agency as well as externally to the greater community are important prerequisites. Additionally, skillful interpersonal ability which translates into skill in staff motivation, maintenance of high morale, and object assessment of individual performances of supervised staff are important attributes. Familiarity with settlement house programs is helpful. JOB SEGMENTS: WITH FINANCE STAFF Trains, supervises and evaluates finance staff. Meets individually with staff for supervision on a regularly scheduled basis. Directly supervises, payroll, AP, staff accountant(s). Monthly Financial statements and annual audit support. WITH FINANCE DEPARTMENT Formulates and recommends change and additions to agency policies relating to functional activities under his/her direction. Plans and develops the agencys basic systems of accounting and financial control. Takes appropriate action to ensure the accurate and timely recording and reporting of all fiscal transactions, and to properly present the agencys financial position. Establishes the agencys overall system of budgetary control, provides for the interpretation of financial results against planned performance. Coordinates the administration of all functions relating to cash operations, including custody of the agencys funds. Coordinates the development and administration of the agencys risk management. Coordinates the development and administration of the human resources and employee benefits programs Provides for the establishment and maintenance of effective and comprehensive internal audit programs. Provides for review and appraisal of the agencys programs for the acquisition, accounting for, maintenance and disposition of all property owned or leased by the agency. WITH AGENCY Provides funder reports as required by the agency. Attends agency staff , finance committee and board meetings as required by the agency. Serves on agency-wide committees as appointed. WITH SUPERVISOR Meets individually with Supervisor on a regular basis. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor. WITH COMMUNITY Accesses community resources to assist the agency. Attends community meetings as required by the agency. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in Business Administration and Bachelors Degree in Accounting and experience in finance, supervision, computer systems and non-profit organization operations are preferred OR Bachelor of Science in Accounting and four (4) years finance experience with two years supervisor experience and two (2) years operations experience plus knowledge of computer systems design.
