The Community Pre-Vocational staff is responsible for supporting individuals with disabilities to maximize their vocational skills within their community. Using a person centered approach, Community Pre-Voc Staff will provide opportunities for the individuals to learn and practice job skills that will prepare them for future community employment opportunities. The staff will employ a variety of diverse skill instruction and training to teach the individuals the soft skills required to be able to secure and maintain employment.  The specific duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following items listed below:

• Network with community resources to build individualized vocational experiences

•  Transport and accompany individuals on community experiences

•  Provide job readiness and soft skills training in group settings

•  Foster, promote and model positive vocational skills and habits / use role play and mock scenarios to reinforce concepts and build skills

•  Assist with the development of service plans and implementing the plans as written

•  Provide oversight to individuals during service hours to ensure their health and safety

•    Perform required duties in a productive and safe manner

•    Act as a professional role model to individuals

 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must in this highly visible position.

 

HOURS:   On-Call, as needed/Monday through Friday/8:30 am to 4:30 pm

STARTING SALARY:  $ 20.31 to $ 22.35 per hour

 

 

 

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Minimum one year of experience supporting people with disabilities in a vocational capacity is preferred
  • Acceptable NYS Driver's License
  • Computer skills
