Overview

Under general supervision of the Manager, the Clinical Research Accounting Specialist II assists with both accounts receivable and accounts payable financial transactions generated from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute clinical research activity. Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to the Sr. Clinical Research Accounting Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and process accounts payable and accounts receivable invoices and payments in a timely manner
  • Ensure all invoices are properly authorized, coded, and recorded
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to the Sr. Clinical Research Accounting Specialist
  • Maintain accurate and organized accounts receivable/payable files and pursue collections from extramural research sponsors.
  • Track clinical research trial activity in the Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) and interface with stakeholders to update financial activity/tracking.
  • Work with study team members to track, invoice, and collect fixed and variable fixed fees associated with clinical research activity.
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring Clinical Research Accounting Specialist I.
  • Audits historical financial activity (invoicing, payments, collections) associated with clinical trials.
  • Works independently to identify and resolve opportunities for enhancing invoicing and collections.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred
  • 2 years of accounts payable or accounts receivable experience required.
  • MCA Certification within 1-year of hire
  • Working knowledge of the clinical trials lifecycle preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Good listening skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math and accounting skills.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in data entry and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data accurately.
  • Beginning to working knowledge of basic, financial, tax and accounting principles.
  • Good customer orientation skills.
