The Genomics Resource Center (GRC) offers comprehensive services and state-of-the-art instruments to support genomics research. The approximately 3000 sq. ft. center houses Element AVITI sequencer, Illumina NovaSeq 6000, NextSeq 2000, and MiSeq sequencers, 10X Genomics Chromium X Single-Cell System, and a Life Technologies QuantStudio real-time PCR system. The center also provides several accessory instruments for sample quantity and quality validation: Agilent Bioanalyzer, Agilent TapeStation, NanoDrop spectrophotometer, and Qubit fluorometer. The GRC provides support to both University and non-University researchers, with consistent usage by over 50 of the University's Laboratories. The GRC is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art technology, technical support, and scientific consulting in the fast-evolving field of genomics.
Overview
The Research Support Associate will work as part of the team of Genomics Resource Center supporting the Rockefeller University research involving genomics technologies.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Setting up sequencing runs
- Preparing sequencing libraries
- Sample quality and quantity check
- Troubleshooting with users and instrument companies
- Recordkeeping and inventory
- Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in biology or related field
- Experience with molecular biology techniques
- Proficient with computers and versatile in sequencing instrumentation
- Strong sense of responsibility and detail-oriented
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Next Generation sequencing and/or single cell technologies preferred
