Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Finance or Accounting or;
Two-year degree in Finance or Accounting and four years related work experience or;
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) with a minimum of six years' work experience in Finance or Accounting.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Possess considerable knowledge of Governmental Auditing Standards to ensure compliance with OMB A-87 and OMB Circular A-133.
Expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards.
Possess software and hardware skills and knowledge to efficiently use computer programs and applications. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) Good verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Possess or acquire the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write memorandums and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to upper management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Job Description:
Division: Finance/Accounting
Reports to: Budgeting /Accounting Team Leader, or Cash Management Team Leader

Summary: Provide dependable financial service to the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe through expertise and practical procedures for processing and maintaining sound financial records.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Assists the Accounting Team Leader in recording and maintaining accurate general ledger balances and proper recording of revenue recognition.
Perform closeouts on special revenue fimds to include general journal entries, disbursement vouchers, and submitting financial status reports to funding agencies.
Reconcile balance sheet control accounts to subsidiary records and verify that financial statements are accurate and issued in a timely manner.
Prepare complete periodic financial status reports, record revenue, complete closeouts of programs as they relate to reservation and regulating agency reporting requirements.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting transactions.
Prepares financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, income statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current financial condition for Program Manager Communicate with Program Managers regarding the status of grants and contracts.
Prepare current revenue/expenditure reports.
Bill indirect cost at the current rate.
Run current financial reports, edit/adjust for month/year-end closeout and reclassify expenses to or from other programs for over/under expenditures.
Accrue wages/fringe, accounts payables, open purchase orders, indirect cost and revenue.
Request cash as appropriate.
Attend and or conduct all mandatory meetings and training as required.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe positions.
Travel in and out of the state on an as-needed basis.
Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture. Adhere to policies governing staff conduct.
