Food Assembler - Airline Catering (Air Fayre)

Staff Management | SMX is seeking reliable and safety-conscious associates to join our team as Food Assembly Associates! As a Food Assembly Associate, you will have a direct impact on airline customer satisfaction and be part of our Air Fayre team responsible for getting products ready for flights out of LAX. Work on weekends and holidays may be required. You must be able to work in a cold room environment of 36 - 41 degrees and occasionally enter freezer storage.

FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assembles food components according to airline specifications, boarding check-sheets and assembly diagrams
  • Keeps production areas in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Handles various allergen products such as cooked pork, poultry, beef, fish, dairy, nuts
  • Keeps production areas in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Complete activity logs (i.e. temperature, sanitizing, waste, equipment breakage logs)
  • Comply with hygiene, jewelry and use of PPE requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous airline catering or production assembly work preferred
  • Must have a current food handler card
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Effective communication with supervisors and co-workers
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work overtime on occasion
  • Must be able to work in an operation that is 24/7, 365-day environment and flexible with shift/day off changes as needs arise.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move product/ equipment 25-50lbs frequently
  • Regularly stands, bends, and repetitive movements during work shift
  • Must be able to work in cold room environment of 36 - 41 degrees

  • Comply with hygiene, jewelry policy and use of PPE requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • 2-years Previous airline catering or food production/assembly work Required
  • Must be able to work in an operation that is 24/7, 365-day environment and flexible with shift/day off changes as needs arise
  • Ability to follow directions accurately and work with a sense of urgency
  • Must be able to obtain a food handler card
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Effective communication with supervisors and co-workers
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work overtime on occasion
  • Must be able to work in cold room environment of 36 - 41 degrees and occasionally enter freezer storage
  • Must have physical ability to complete job duties, which includes standing for long periods, bending, and repetitive movements
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move product/equipment 25-50lbs frequently

The hourly rate for this position is anticipated between $17.71 - $18.71 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the shift you work and other considerations permitted by law.
