Job Description:
Regions Hospital is looking to hire an exceptional, experienced Diabetes Nurse Educator to join our Inpatient Nursing team. This position will assess, prioritize, perform, document and evaluate professional nursing practice in regard to Diabetes Education at Regions Hospital; to perform and document specific physician's orders for diabetes education; to coordinate, communicate, interpret, and explain all aspects of diabetes self-management to the patient, his/her family, health professionals and important others; to make appropriate referrals to interdisciplinary services to meet all the patients' needs. This role will also provide education to the staff during Central Nursing Orientation as needed.

Work Schedule: 0.60 FTE, Day Shifts
Required Qualifications:
*Graduation from an accredited program in Nursing (RN)
*Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota
*Current acute care RN experience
*Knowledge of diabetes (pathophysiology, treatment, acute and chronic management)
*Certification and annual re-certification in use of the Hospital Blood Glucose Monitoring System
*Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of patient care staff, non-patient care staff, patients, and families.
Preferred Qualifications:
*Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDES)
*BSN education
