Lab Tech
We seek an engineering technician responsible for test equipment setup, tear down, maintenance, data collection, and logistics. The customer service technician ensures the engineering service request operates reliably and satisfies the customer's end-use requirements. Experience working with customers and managing the interaction is essential.
- Responsible for test board and equipment setup, tear down, maintenance, data collection, and logistics.
- Responsibilities will also include maintaining lab standards to keep them safe, clean, and organized.
- Deploy test boards that run automated tests from engineering and troubleshoot issued requests that potentially have test setup issues.
- Remove and redeploy test board setups that need new test procedures from engineers' requests in a regular
- Collect data for critical metrics for the lab and track progress.
- Perform test equipment inventory, calibration, and maintenance routine.
- Understand and configure electro-mechanical component installations using BOM, drawings, and schematics.
- Perform electro-mechanical repair, troubleshoot wiring, and test modified semi-complex assemblies without supervision on standard projects.
- Communicate effectively and recommend changes on the document where applicable to actual wiring and mechanical build of assembly.
- Perform self-inspection according to the Manufacturing and or internal procedure checklist.
- Identify problems, document them, and bring them to the supervisor's attention.
- Check equipment for calibration status expired materials and follow all ESD and other general housekeeping procedures.
- Associate Degree.
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a Tech-related Major or 4+ years of equivalent experience in a Lab or customer service in a data center environment or field service technician.
- The ability to read schematics and set up various cable connectivity types to test equipment and DUT is a plus.
- Basic user-level understanding of Unix/Windows and Networking with Enterprise Switches and Routers is a plus.
- Ability to solder and rework PCBA components SMT, Through holes, wires, terminal and fine pitch parts.
- General test instrumentation hardware and software knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with environmental chamber operation and support.
- The ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs. of equipment set up on the bench.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries and acknowledge and resolve customer issues.
- Communicate and coordinate with colleagues and provide feedback on the efficiency of the customer service process.
- Strong troubleshooting with critical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, manage time, and prioritize and work in an unsupervised environment
- Understanding basic electronics and knowledge of lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM, signal generator, signal analyzer) is helpful.
- Basic understanding of MS Office, PDFs, and the ability to read basic schematic, BOM, and documentation.
