Required Skills: | Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university. Juris Doctorate degree obtained at an accredited law school. Admission to the Minnesota State Bar. The County will consider candidates who have taken the bar exam and are awaiting results.
Required to pass a background check, pass an on-line security test for CJDN access and be fingerprinted.
Valid Minnesota Driver's License required. In addition to minimum qualifications, an individual must meet the minimum experience qualifications as stated below to qualify for an Assistant County Attorney I, II or III position:
Assistant County Attorney I *Pay Grade 17: $87,256 - $122,179.20 Minimum qualification for the position requires one to three years of directly related employment experience.
Assistant County Attorney II *Pay Grade 18: $93,392 - $130,728 Minimum qualification for the position requires three to seven years directly related employment experience.
Assistant County Attorney III *Pay Grade 20: $106,912 - $149,656 Minimum qualification for the position requires seven or more years directly related employment experience.

Job Description: |
This Assistant County Attorney position will be assigned to the criminal division. Sherburne County Attorney's Office is seeking a motivated candidate to join our office. The criminal division attorneys handle a variety of cases in addition to the development of a subject matter expertise. We seek an individual who desires to work in a collaborative environment. The Office invests in training and professional growth. Our new Courthouse and office are in Elk River, Minnesota; close to the Twin Cities providing access to the amenities but foregoing the traffic. Come grow with our dynamic community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities These examples of typical duties do not include all possible tasks for this classification and do not limit the assignment of related tasks. Regular attendance according to the department's approved work schedule is required for all Sherburne County positions. Prosecute misdemeanors through charging, arraignment, pre-trial, contested hearings, and court or jury trial. Prosecute gross misdemeanors through charging, arraignment, pre-trial, omnibus hearings, and court or jury trial. Prosecute felonies through charging, arraignment, pre-trial, omnibus hearings and court or jury trial. Handle probation violations on misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors and felony cases. Assist with legal research on felonies, gross misdemeanors, criminal appeals, and civil files. Other duties as assigned by the County Attorney or Lead Criminal Attorney.
