Special Education Teacher: Multi-disability Program

SMEC is seeking a strong and diverse pool of applicants for the position of Special Education Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Experience working with students with multiple disabilities and medical fragility strongly preferred. MA DESE licensure in Moderate or Severe Special Needs required.

The Teacher manages the classroom on a day-to-day basis by planning and providing instruction based on the MA Curriculum Frameworks, demonstrating effective classroom management, developing and implementing measurable Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals, providing assessment and curriculum design as well as supervision of students, classroom staff and ongoing parent contact.

This is a School Year Position (184 days) plus a 5 week part-time summer program. Valid licensure as a special education teacher (with minimum Moderate designation) or waiver eligible from the MA Department of Education required. Benefits Eligible (Health, Dental, Life, Vision Insurances, 457b/403b). This position qualifies for the Massachusetts Teachers? Retirement System (MTRS). Local travel between programs is required to support students at different school buildings.
