The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, Division for Children, Youth, and Families has a full time vacancy for Attorney I.

SUMMARY:
Performs administrative and legal work involved in managing the production of record requests for the Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). Coordinates and provides oversight and represents DCYF in litigation. Reports to Regional Supervisor, (DCYF) Legal Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consults with DCYF relative to production of records.

Provides legal advice to DCYF regarding requests for production of case records, pursuant to RSA 170-G:8-a.

Coordinates with DCYF to ensure DCYF meets its statutory obligations to produce records, ensure confidentiality, and protect children from harm.

Monitors statutory deadlines, with the assistance of Legal Assistants, to ensure timely responses and production of records.

Conducts final organization, review, and approval for dissemination of DCYF records by DCYF.

Oversees the work of the legal assistants, including monitoring work product, assignments, and developing work methods in coordination with their supervisor.

Recommends and advises DCYF relative to statutes, policies, procedures and regulations relative to the production of records.

Represents DCYF in court, administrative hearings, and other forums pertaining to the production of records and other matters as assigned by the DCYF Legal Director.

Provides other legal advice and representation as may be directed the DCYF Legal Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: J.D. from a recognized law school.

Experience: Two years' experience in the active practice of law.

License/Certification: Valid drivers license and/or access to transportation for use in statewide travel

Special Requirements: Must be an active member of the New Hampshire Bar Association and in Good Standing.
