Requisition Summary
PACCAR Embedded Engineering (EmE) is a rapidly expanding organization that is transforming the way control systems and software are developed for commercial vehicle applications. This includes developing the latest vehicle controls, display technology, telematics, BEV, and autonomous truck solutions that exceed customer expectations. You will collaborate with an international, cross-functional team focused on driving superior technical solutions that maximize customer uptime and operating efficiency. Successful applicants will demonstrate individual creativity in addressing challenges and opportunities while working within a supportive team to develop industry-leading solutions for the medium- and heavy-duty truck industry.
PACCAR's EmE department, which serves both Kenworth, Peterbilt and other global class leading brands, has an opening for a Software Quality Manager with relevant industry experience managing software and hardware development and release. This position will report to the Assistant Chief Engineer for PACCAR Embedded Engineering and will manage a team that covers:
Software and hardware quality disciplines and toolchains
Product Cybersecurity
Functional Safety
Software Integration Test
Software Release
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Lead cross-functional and cross-divisional teams, and activities to implement high quality systems within the truck electronics architecture. Team will consist of multiple supervisor direct reports with 8-10 engineers reporting to each supervisor.
Provide leadership of cybersecurity and functional safety disciplines within Kenworth and Peterbilt.Coordinate and align work products with international counterparts.
Provide leadership of ASPICE activities and continuous improvement plans across all Embedded Engineering, Kenworth, Peterbilt, and PACCAR Technical Center North America teams.
Ensure quality of software and hardware designs by providing executive leadership of cross functional quality team and deliver zero-defect releases to PACCAR plants and customers.
Develop and maintain software/hardware quality, security, and functional safety roadmaps, and regularly communicate with senior leadership to gain buy-in and investment in the roadmaps. Support other teams as they deploy the core disciplines within the manager's team, especially supplier engagement on the topics.
Develop and manage department budgets to achieve scope, schedule, and quality goals.
Lead, mentor and promote employee training and development.
Propose, plan, and implement process improvements to meet organizational objectives.
Other duties as assigned.
Travel as required to successfully execute the job.
Qualifications
Supervisory or managerial experience is required, with experience in building high performing engineering teams preferred.
Strong and proven leadership experience required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to all levels of the organization including executive leadership is required.
Experience in software and electronics hardware design preferred, especially experience in the software configuration, release, security, and functional safety domains.
Experience in implementing detailed ASPICE improvement plans to achieve capability level 2+ preferred.
Functional Safety and/or Vehicle Cybersecurity certifications preferred OR successful candidate must be willing to achieve certification as a condition for accepting the role.
Outstanding organizational, planning, and tracking skills required.
Creative approach to identifying solutions and problem solving is required.
10+ years of experience within the automotive or trucking industries is preferred.
Design for Six Sigma Training and Experience is required.
Education
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical discipline is required.
Master's degree in Engineering or Business is preferred.
Professional Engineer's License is preferred.

At PACCAR, we value talent and promote growth and development. We carefully consider numerous compensation factors including your education, training, or experience. The salary range for Software Quality Manager is $104,000-$182,500 annually. This position is also eligible for 25% IC. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
