JOB REQUIREMENTS: Each Brown County judicial law clerk performs legal
research and drafts decisions for the eight circuit judges. Essential
Duties Reviews, studies, searches, and annotates laws, court decisions,
documents, opinions, briefs, appeals and other litigated matters. Reads
and digests opinions, briefs, and motions and extracts excerpts
pertinent to points of law and fact. Prepares decisions, legal memoranda
and statement of issues involved, including appropriate suggestions or
recommendations to the judge. Compiles references on laws and decisions
necessary for legal determinations. Attends courtroom proceedings,
including trials and motion hearings. Manages, coordinates and educates
law students and college student interns. Performs related functions as
assigned. \*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of
law procedures and practices. Knowledge of and ability to utilize a
computer and the required software. Ability to conduct legal research
using both texts and Westlaw (online research). Ability to communicate
effectively both orally and in writing Ability to be versatile. Ability
to handle multiple cases at one time. Ability to work the required hours
