Your Role and Responsibilities
This intern will work with a team of professional scientists from IBM Research to develop scientific research in the areas of Responsible and Inclusive Computing, particularly in the area of text generation and processing.
Projects may include analyzing and generating synthetic texts for training LLMs, developing methods and systems for evaluating texts produced by LLMs, developing translation machine learning models, etc.
This is also an opportunity for a doctoral student in the area of NLP to learn about and acquire practice in the latest text processing techniques using LLMs and/or other experimental models, using a large computational infrastructure.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Advanced knowledge in natural language processing, including computational linguistics.
Fundamental knowledge of modern machine learning techniques applied to language processing.
Knowledge of Large Language Models architecture and technology.
Fluency in Python.
Advanced English.
Graduating from one of these courses or equivalent:
– Computer Science
– Computer Engineering
– Electronic Engineering
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Basic knowledge of linguistics and text processing and analysis.
Knowledge and practice of developing natural language processing systems.
Practice in developing cloud systems, use of software development environments, use and development of APIs. Interest in issues of ethics and responsible computing.
Knowledge of Brazilian indigenous languages.
