WIC Dietitian, Dietetic Technician, Nutritionist, or Registered Nurse

Type: Part-Time, Permanent
Pay Rate: Dietitian, Nutritionist, or Registered Nurse: $24.25 - $25.95 per hour
Dietetic Technician: $22.66 – 24.25 per hour

Job Duties:
Dietitian Job Duties:
Determine client qualifications for the WIC program. Provide nutrition education and counseling to income eligible women (pregnant, breast-feeding and post-partum), infants, and children up to the age of five years. Promote and support breastfeeding. Conduct nutrition assessments. Document notes in participant charts. Assign risk codes and appropriate food packages. Issue breast pumps. Follow WIC Policies and Procedures. Utilize a computer and texting program. Prepare educational materials. Conduct outreach activities. Refer clients to other services. Obtain anthropometric measurements. Conduct hemoglobin tests. Perform clerical duties as needed. Attend meetings and complete required trainings. Assist with supervising the work of any Nutritionists and/or Dietetic Technicians on staff, which includes accepting referrals of high risk participants, reviewing charts, observing appointments, and reviewing and approving education plans and materials developed. Assist with social media posts.

Registered Nurse Job Duties:

Dietetic Technician or Nutritionist Job Duties:
Determine client qualifications for the WIC program. Provide nutrition education and counseling to income eligible women (pregnant, breastfeeding and post-partum), infants, and children up to the age of five years. Promote and support breastfeeding. Conduct nutrition assessments. Document notes in participant charts. Assign risk codes and appropriate food packages. Issue breast pumps. Follow WIC Policies and Procedures. Refer high risk participants to a registered dietitian. Observations and chart reviews will be conducted by a registered dietitian. Education plans and materials must be approved by a registered dietitian. Utilize a computer and texting program. Prepare educational materials. Conduct outreach activities. Refer clients to other services. Obtain anthropometric measurements. Conduct hemoglobin tests. Perform clerical duties as needed. Attend meetings and complete required trainings. Assist with social media posts.

Dietitian Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in nutrition/dietetics program approved by the Ohio Board of Dietetics, and one (1) year experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Knowledge with lactation management.
• Maintain registration with the American Dietetic Association; maintain Dietitian license issued by Ohio Board of Dietetics per Section O.R.C. 4759.06;
• Skilled in working with computers and the public
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Required to have regular and predictable attendance

Registered Nurse Minimum Qualifications:
• Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Ohio (O.R.C. 4723.03). One (1) year experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Knowledge with lactation management.
• Skilled in working with computers and the public
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Required to have regular and predictable attendance

Dietetic Technician Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate degree from an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) approved program and have passed the registration examination. A Dietetic Technician must have an associate degree from an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) approved program. Dietetic Technicians function under the supervision of a registered/licensed dietitian. One (1) year experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Knowledge with lactation management.
• Must complete 6 hours of continuing education per year
• Skilled in working with computers and the public
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Required to have regular and predictable attendance

Nutritionist Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition or Home Economics with emphasis in Nutrition. Nutritionists function under the supervision of a registered/licensed dietitian. One (1) year experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Knowledge with lactation management.

Dietetic Technician: $6,672.92 to $26,639.14

Clermont County Public Health offers a generous fringe and benefits package to all part-time employees:
• Sign-On Bonus- New Employees receive a one-time $500 sign-on bonus after completing their 180-day probationary period. After one year of service, staff will receive an additional $1,000 bonus.
• Attractive Schedule- We follow an attractive work schedule of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday (actual work days will be negotiated during hiring).
• Remote Work Option- This position can work remotely 1 day a week after the probationary period.
• Paid Leave (119-616 hours per year)
o Vacation- Vacation starts at two weeks annually with up to 5 weeks per year at 20 years of service.
o Sick- Sick leave accrues at 0.0575 hours per hour worked, which amounts to 9 days per year.
o Holiday- CCPH observes thirteen paid holidays. Part-time employees receive holiday pay for those that fall on their regularly scheduled workday.
o Parental Leave- After one year of employment, employees are eligible for six weeks of paid leave following the birth or adoption of a child.
o Military Leave- National Guard, Defense Corps, Naval Militia, and all U.S Armed Forces reserve members are authorized up to 176 hours of paid leave per calendar year for training purposes.
• Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) – All employees contribute 10% of their salary to PERS, and the agency contributes 14%. The agency estimated value based on the above salary range from $4,236.96 - $4,533.98 for a part-time time Dietitian, Nutritionist, or Registered Nurse annually, and $3,959.16-$4,236.96 for a part-time Dietetic Technician annually. Employees do not pay federal social security tax from income; all contributions go directly towards PERS.
• Deferred Compensation Plans– Employees may contribute to tax-deferred supplemental retirement accounts.
• Tuition Assistance Program – CCPH offers tuition assistance to all employees after one year of service, up to 90% reimbursement.
• Student Loan Forgiveness- Public service employees may be eligible for student loan forgiveness through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
• Sick Leave Rewards- Employees with low sick leave usage traditionally receive an annual sick leave bonus of up to $480. They are also eligible for quarterly drawings, which could earn up to an additional $240 per year.
• Long-term Disability – Agency picks up the first five years until the employee becomes vested in PERS.
• Supplemental Life Insurance – Employees may purchase up to $250,000 for employees, $100,000 for spouses, and $20,000 for children.
• Accident, Cancer, and Critical Illness Insurance – Coverage is available to be picked up by the employee.
