NY1495215 Fiber Characterization Field Technician. Full time , 40 hours per week with overtime as needed, for Fiberdyne Labs in Frankfort, NY. Reports to: Project Manager. DETAILS OF JOB RESPONSIBILITY: ** The primary responsibility of an FC Field Tech is to operate the provided equipment at a customer's site on the assigned fiber plant in order to gather data that will be analyzed in the office and presented to the customer in the form of a report. ** An FC Tech will make sure his equipment is in order and all travel arrangements are complete before deploying to the field. ** An FC Tech will arrive on site as scheduled and perform the FC function in a professional and efficient manner that represents Fiberdyne Labs as an industry leader. ** An FC Tech will be responsible to the assigned Project Manager and notify the Manager of any issues discovered while in the field. ** An FC Tech will work the required hours and time in order to complete the assigned FC job on time in order to meet the customer's expectations. ** An FC Tech will be required to travel throughout the US. Travel requirement is up to 80% of the time. Most travel does not include weekends. JOB REQUIREMENTS: *An FC Tech will document all aspects of the job including: -Test details and results -Site details -Hours worked -All expenses incurred *An FC Tech will become proficient with the equipment and technology of fiber characterization including: -OTDR's -Dispersion -Optical Return Loss -Attenuation QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have very good organizational skills in order to multi-task projects, duties, and schedules. An FC Tech must be able to read and interpret documents and prints in various forms in order to accurately and efficiently perform the job. Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Visio, AutoCad and other related packages is a plus. An FC Tech must be flexible to an ever-changing schedule in order to satisfy customer expectations while possessing excellent interpersonal skills to excel in managing customers while on site. An FC Tech must have a clean driving record and possess a credit card with available credit limits of no less than $2,500.00 in order to support the travel requirements of the job. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum High School graduate, additional college or trade school is desirable. Related field or equivalent experience is satisfactory. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: An FC Tech must show proficiency for learning the trade details and a willingness to work well with the team. All job-related skills are learned through in-house and on-the-job training. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver's license and clean driving record. PAY: $35,000-$40,000/year.
