Location: LEADVILLE
The Animal Control Officer is responsible for enforcing animal
control laws, ensuring public safety and promoting responsible
pet ownership. Duties include investigating complaints, rescuing
stray or injured animals and collaborating with local agencies.
When not handling animal control calls or cases for the Leadville
Police Department, this role provides administrative and shelter
support at the Leadville Lake County Animal Shelter.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● Knowledge of animal behavior, body language, and humane
animal handling
● Proficiency with Microsoft and Google suites
● Proficiency with general database reporting
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective
working relationships
● Public communication and deescalation skills
● Ability to complete well organized and accurate reports
● Ability to drive in normal and poor weather conditions
Qualifications:
Minimum Education: A high school diploma or GED. An Associate's degree is
preferred, but is not
required.
Certifications: Obtain and maintain State of Colorado Animal Control
