The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Staff Research Associate I. Under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer and faculty members, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by providing crucial support and assisting in administrative and analytical services for our clinical research studies. As a Staff Research Associate I, your responsibilities will include collaborating closely with faculty members and residents to support and enhance clinical research initiatives. You will play a vital role in patient enrollment and the facilitation of clinical trials. Additionally, you will compile and organize data from patient records, perform accurate data entry, and prepare regulatory documents, including IRB submissions. Budget preparation and the preparation of documents for contracts and grants will also be part of your major functions. In this role, you will have the opportunity to recruit, supervise, and direct the efforts of UCLA student research volunteers. Furthermore, you will analyze existing and proposed administrative organizational structures, contributing to the development of policies and procedures that optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
Target hourly rate: $25.75-$30.71
Required:
- Experience in emergency medicine environment. Knowledge of clinical research operations, including interpretation and implementation of FDA regulations, ICH guidelines. Good organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks with meticulous attention to detail.
- Skills in setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of the job. Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload, changes in assignments, pressures of deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with supervisor and co-workers.
- Ability to work as a part of the research team; collaborating with P.I.s, physicians, hospital administrative personnel, and patients. Good organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks with meticulous attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of computer software: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. Ability to properly and completely document significant information to form a case study record of research events.
- Skill in monitoring and troubleshooting computer systems. Ability to prepare and compose written draft reports of research studies and summary reports.
- Ability to recognize and use technical terminology. Ability to arrange appointments schedules and follow-up without a conflict. Maintain patient data confidentiality at all times. Demonstrated clerical and data entry skills and ability to assist with administrative needs in support of the activities of the department.
Preferred:
- BS/BA Degree with completion of pre-medicine coursework.
- 2-3 years of prior research or healthcare-related academic work experience
