Job Description:
This role is responsible for leading a team based in Minneapolis, MN within the Protective and Marine division supporting the Powder business unit.
Lead team of 6-8 Chemists and Technicians in managing projects and strategies around the Rebar and Pipe businesses in the Powder segment.
This includes, but is not limited to project management, raw material needs, development projects, maintenance of business projects, and more.
Collaborate with Innovation teams, procurement, RM Coordinators, RM Suppliers, manufacturing plants, customers, Marketing, Sales, and more.
Leadership
Independent leadership of Powder projects (USCA) for PMD R&D
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of Powder activities and systems
Build strategic internal and external relationships to execute the Powder strategy
Vendor management and leadership to support strategic Vendor initiatives
Align sourcing and technical activities to deliver on strategic goals for the Company
Support the transfer of knowledge and information throughout Sherwin-Williams
Uses personal influence and credibility to gain acceptance of ideas and plans
Develop strategies that expand upon team's impact
Business Management
Effectively manage time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently and on time.
Set and meet project timelines through effective planning and execution.
Prioritize projects and resources, assess and communicate progress relative to goals.
Effective management of multiple global initiatives
Identify and understand project challenges. Determine and implement best alternative course of action.
Support and lead continuous improvement activities.
Employee and Team Development
Facilitate the professional and technical growth of Team Members and Leaders.

Communication
Written and verbal communication of team and project related info to key stakeholders and Management
Direct weekly communication with Sales and Marketing
Direct communication with R&D, Marketing, and Sales Directors, as well as the PMD President
Communicate/interface with other departments and divisions.
Effective interaction with GSC to align corporate processes and strategies.
Safety and Quality
Ensure and reinforce Safety, Housekeeping, and ISO practices.
Actively seek to improve overall safety through proper training and implementation of corrective actions as necessary.
Identify and address quality issues through the implementation of product and/or process improvements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
* Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
* Project leadership/management
* 10 years of management experience in coatings
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum of 3 years of paint formulation or related field
* High level of initiative and leadership ability
* Excellent organization and planning skills
* Proven problem solving and decision-making skills and abilities
* Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
